Executive Overview

Admission into an accredited Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) program in Pakistan is strictly governed by the Pakistan Bar Council (PBC) Legal Education Rules 2015 and university statutory requirements. This guide clarifies eligibility criteria, academic percentages, age guidelines, and essential documentation.

1. The 5-Year LLB Degree Transition

Under the landmark judgment of the Supreme Court of Pakistan and notifications by the Pakistan Bar Council, the former 3-year evening LLB program was phased out nationwide.

Today, all recognized legal institutions offer the standardized 5-Year (10-Semester) Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) program, designed to mirror international collegiate standards of clinical legal training.

2. Minimum Academic Qualifications

To be eligible for admission into Abbott Law College Mansehra (affiliated with Hazara University and accredited by PBC), applicants must fulfill the following:

Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSSC): Passed Intermediate examination (FA, FSc, I.Com, ICS, or equivalent) with at least 45% aggregate marks (second division) from a recognized Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE).

Equivalence Certificate: Candidates possessing Cambridge A-Levels or foreign qualifications must furnish an official Equivalence Certificate issued by the Inter Board Committee of Chairmen (IBCC), Islamabad.

3. Mandatory Law Admission Test

A valid HEC Law Admission Test (LAT) result with a score of 50% or above is compulsory. No candidate can be granted provisional or confirmed admission without submitting a valid LAT score card.

4. Age Limits and Bar Council Clarifications

Historically, the Pakistan Bar Council imposed an upper age ceiling of 24 years for fresh admissions. However, subsequent judicial petitions and high court rulings provided relief across various jurisdictions.

Prospective candidates are advised to consult our admissions desk for the most up-to-date provincial bar council notifications and university age relaxation quotas applicable for the current academic session.

5. Required Document Checklist

When applying for admission, students must present the following original documents along with verified photocopies:

  • SSC / Matriculation Certificate & Detailed Marks Certificate (DMC)
  • HSSC / Intermediate Certificate & Detailed Marks Certificate (DMC)
  • Official HEC LAT Result Card (verified score printout)
  • Applicant’s CNIC or Form-B (NADRA issued)
  • Father’s or Guardian’s CNIC copy
  • Domicile Certificate of the candidate
  • Recent passport-sized photographs on blue background
  • Original Migration Certificate (if transferring from a Board or University outside BISE Abbottabad / Hazara)
